How to File Probate in Tehama County
Probate involves the court-supervised process of administering the contents of a deceased person’s estate. During the probate process, the personal representative will be responsible for paying any outstanding debts and taxes before distributing any remaining assets to beneficiaries and heirs. A personal representative can usually complete a routine probate case within a year of filing.
To file probate in Tehama County, you will first need to prepare and submit the probate petition at the court clerk’s office in Red Bluff. If the decedent had a will, you must lodge it with the court at the same time you file the Petition. Once you file the probate petition, the court will schedule a hearing.
