Section 5, Rule 23 of the Tehama County Local Rules provides guidelines for probate cases filed in Tehama County. In this regard, you should be aware that Tehama County has elected to rely on California State laws and rules and has not created local rules applicable to Tehama County probate cases at this time.

How to File Probate in Tehama County
Probate involves the court-supervised process of administering the contents of a deceased person’s estate. During the probate process, the personal representative will be responsible for paying any outstanding debts and taxes before distributing any remaining assets to beneficiaries and heirs. A personal representative can usually complete a routine probate case within a year of filing.
To file probate in Tehama County, you will first need to prepare and submit the probate petition at the court clerk’s office in Red Bluff.
